About Maricopa, Arizona

Maricopa is a city in the Gila River Valley in the U.S. state of Arizona. Incorporated in 2003, it is the seventeenth largest city in the state with an estimated population of approximately 45,000. Despite its name, Maricopa is not located in Maricopa County. Instead, it is the most populous incorporated city in Pinal County and forms part of the Phoenix metropolitan area, the 12th largest metropolitan area in the United States.

As an interesting fact, Maricopa has had three locations over the years: Maricopa Wells, Maricopaville and Maricopa Junction which gradually became known as Maricopa. Maricopa Wells was an important relay station for several mail routes in the 1800s. Maricopaville was a popular town during the creation of the Tucson to Yuma railroad, in the late 180s. In fact, a local newspaper even suggested it would make a fine capital. Maricopa Junction was an important depot for the M&P Phoenix railroad.

Today, Maricopa attracts all sorts of people with its warm climate and many amenities. In addition to numerous activities and easy access to both Tucson and Phoenix, Maricopa offers residents many conveniences within its city limits. In fact, Maricopa is a popular work and entertainment location for residence of nearby Eloy, Florence, Casa Grande, and Coolidge.

Filing for Bankruptcy in Maricopa, Arizona

Unfortunately, like much of Arizona, Maricopa was hit extremely hard by the burst of the housing bubble and the subprime mortgage disaster. Maricopa was the subject of a major article in the New York Times on April 6, 2008, and the town was featured on ABC's Nightline on May 7, 2008, during its "Realty Check" segment. The story dealt with the drastic effect of the subprime mortgage crisis and housing market correction on the city; referring to Maricopa as the "poster child of the housing crisis."

It is thus of no surprise that many residents of Maricopa County are facing tough economic decisions. Many have found themselves underwater on their second or third mortgages and facing sky-high mortgage rates. In addition, the effects of a stalled Phoenix job market have radiated to Maricopa, with many unable to find work.

If your current financial outlook is bleak, you may consider the benefits of filing for bankruptcy protection. The bankruptcy code allows debtors to cure mortgage delinquencies, eliminate credit card and medical debt, and stop bank levies and wage garnishments. In many ways, bankruptcy offers a fresh start from otherwise bleak financial situation.

If you are considering filing for bankruptcy protection, it is important to consult with a qualified bankruptcy lawyer in Maricopa, Arizona. Contact Ariano & Reppucci today for a free consultation with an experienced bankruptcy lawyer. Let us show you how filing for bankruptcy protection is a solution to many financial problems and offers a fresh start.
